Quote from loa19 on June 2, 2024, 8:35 amBonjour!
(Hello!
Firstly, my apologies for my lack of French skills, my French is very, very basic.
I am looking for Micheline Mary Thierry born 15/03/1940.
In 1962/3 she and her mother visited Australia, where Micheline got pregnant with a baby boy and had to give up the baby. (He is currently watching rugby upstairs)
The details we have for Micheline are her birthday, that she was born in Rosehill, Mauritius, was Catholic, and was the middle of 3 sisters. Apparently her grandfather either owned or ran a sugar plantation near Rose Hill.
We do not know what happened to her after she gave her baby up for adoption, the Australian birth records are exceptionally condescending towards unmarried mothers.
We have two stories - either she married someone in Australia and had further children OR she returned to Mauritius. I cannot find any records in Australia and I am hoping there is perhaps some information in Mauritius.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. )

Sorry, I misunderstood your message.
Our database is not exhaustive. As you have the date and place of birth of Micheline Mary Thierry, you need to request her birth certificate from the Registry Office in Mauritius.Civil Status Division
7th Floor,Emmanuel Anquetil Building
Port Louis
Fax Number: 00230 211 2420
Email: csdregistry@govmu.orgThe request must be made by her son, who must attach his own birth certificate.
Good luck, the procedure is long.
you will then have the names of his grandparents, and from there, it may be possible to trace his ancestry back further.
